WHAT IS GENITAL WARTS?

Genital warts are soft bumps or growths around the genitals caused by low risk strains of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV 6 and HPV 11). They can be transmitted from one person to another through sexual activities including oral, Vagina and anal sex. They cause itching, pain and discomfort in your genitals.

In men, genital warts can grow on the tip or shaft of the penis, the anus or the scrotum while in women, genital warts can grow on the: inside or outside the walls of the vagina, on the anus, on the vulva and cervix.

Genital warts can also grow in the mouth or throat if you have oral sex with an infected person.
